The second installment of Scott Westerfeld’s New York Times bestselling and award-winning Uglies series—a global phenomenon that started the dystopian trend.Tally has finally become pretty. Now her looks are beyond perfect, her clothes are awesome, her boyfriend is totally hot, and she’s completely popular. It’s everything she’s ever wanted. But beneath all the fun—the nonstop parties, the high-tech luxury, the total freedom—is a nagging sense that something’s wrong. Something important. Then a message from Tally’s ugly past arrives. Reading it, Tally remembers what’s wrong with pretty life, and the fun stops cold. Now she has to choose between fighting to forget what she knows and fighting for her life—because the authorities don’t intend to let anyone with this information survive.

"This is the second book in the Uglies series. It was a very quick read. I really enjoyed this book. Tally’s character evolves more in this book. Also there are new characters added that provided more context to the story. "

"The best part about this book was Zane, he was my favorite character! Almost every series of books has one that is eh, I believe this is the one. The first book opens this world to you (Don’t watch the Netflix movie, it left out stuff & was terrible), the second one is maybe for character development… I gave the book 2 stars but I will continue to read the series. I have hope that that the 3rd will be better (especially because of the ending on the 2nd book)."
"Absolutely love this book. "

"Awesome the first time around, even better the second!
I literally had not remembered a huge chunk of this book but did not realize it until I had reread it. I hadn't remembered the whole crusher part where Zane works on getting the interface cuffs off until I started rereading it and then it all came back to me. Another part I hadn't recalled at all was when the tribe of people finds Tally and thinks she is a God. That part didn't come back to me as much.

The first time I read this book, Zane automatically overcame David in my mind. I liked Zane a whole lot better, but now I think I might like them both.

This book gets a little bit more predictable than the uglies was first time around, just because the series seems to follow a pattern: Shay doesn't want something. Tally doesn't want the same thing. Tally fights it. Shay becomes what she didn't want. Shay makes Tally join her."
