And as Mother teaches them about life on the farm, Hiram and Hawkins end up in many scrapes together. One day Hiram is picked to go to the fair. Surely now his brothers and sisters will know he's special! It's a lot of hard work, though, and Hiram soon begins to think maybe going to the fair isn't so great after all. But has Hiram pushed his family away forever?
