Rina Kent
From USA Today bestselling author Rina Kent comes a new STANDALONE grumpy sunshine college romance. I made a terrible mistake. Being a mafia princess, I knew my fate was already decided. But I went ahead and longed for the wrong one. Creighton King is bad news with a gorgeous exterior. He's silent, brooding, and obviously emotionally unavailable. So I thought it was over. Until he awakens a beast inside me. My name is Annika Volkov, and I'm Creighton's worst enemy. He won't stop until he breaks me. Or I break him.

"Annika is a squirter!

Good for her!

5 STARS because I got my Adrian and Lia fix in this book!

2.5 stars for our main couple.

Annika was for sure a character...

She was a weirdo, which I guess made her more unique than Rina Kent's other heroines lol, but her chemistry with Creighton was subpar, mediocre.

I loooove the call back to the Deception trilogy, and I'm always desperate for Adrian and Lia.

One thing I think messed with their chemistry though is how much Creighton wanted to "die..."

Look, I don't think a suicidal hero is a hero who is in love. Especially after said hero has already met the heroine.

Even if your hero was suicidal before, meeting the heroine was supposed to put a stop to that.

Otherwise, wanting to die means he is willing to be without her. And that is not very romantic to me.

Otherwise, I like some of the character dynamics and even though Creighton wasn't Rina's best hero, he had his moments.

Did I mention that I LOVE Adrian and Lia?!"
"3.75/5

I’m going to be honest this wasn’t my fave of Rina Kent’s. It started off with a lot of intrigue and ended well but the majority of the story is like a loop, every few chapters it felt like the same thing was happening. The sadist bdsm sex scenes and her naive nature felt over done. I still didn’t quite see how his childhood events led him to be a sadist. But happy there wasn’t any OW/OM drama that part was refreshing. I think to really get the most out of this series you need to read the parents series as there is a lot of reference to the parents stories and conversations that allude to situations. I will still read the next in this series."
"Yes, I rated the two books back-to-back five stars. Why? I cried like a freaking baby. I didn’t expect it to be so emotional. And for the past to come back and hunt them.

Creighton is the Grump, while Annika is the sunshine. Two worlds collide into one. Creighton is a King, while Annika is a mafia princess. I love how she gets under his skin and encourages her to grow. Plus, he is a kinky."

"I don’t know how to feel. It definitely wasn’t as good as God of Malice. And I hated the ending. Just felt unsatisfying and left me with a frown on my face when I done with the book. And the spice… too much. Even for me who can handle spice. It was too much. I didn’t like this book that much. I’m praying God of Wrath is better. And from what I’ve heard Jeremy Volkov is perfection. So let’s hope that true after the stuff I just had to read."
"God of Pain follows Creighton whose parents are Aiden, Elsa, and Annika, Adrian and Lia's daughter from the first generation books.

We learn more about Anni who loves her family but feels trapped by their protectiveness and the fact that she may have to be in an arranged marriage with someone in the mafia.
Creighton on the other hand had a tragic past with a horrible family that he can't forget even though he was adopted by a family that he loves. He finds out about his past with his cousin's help, and everything kind of falls apart after that.

Creighton and Annika got together pretty fast and they were so cute, they had a period of fake dating, picnics where Creigh ate all of the food that Annika made(IYKYK), dancing in the rain, and dates. I really enjoyed their progression and how they both loved their parents and family.
In normal Rina Kent fashion, there were spicy scenes and elements of BDSM in the book which I'm not always a fan of but it was good.

I loved seeing the interaction between Creighton and Eli they had the best sibling interactions, I'm so glad that they take care of each other. I wish we had seen more interactions between Jeremy and Annika. I also loved all the interactions with the parents, I'm glad that Aiden, Elsa Adrain, and Lia are good and loving parents even though Adrian was sometimes unreasonable towards Annika.

I loved Landon he was so so chaotic and brought trouble and chaos to the book. I also love Eli's character, I was pleasantly surprised because I thought he would be moody and grumpy all the time but he's so intriguing and I want to know more about him! I'm so excited for Niko and Brandon's book, I like the characters and can't wait to see more of them.

Some things I didn't enjoy and made me confused:
- The aftermath of that plot twist, was so chaotic and confusing though I did like Aiden and Adrian's meeting.
- I don't understand the rival groups it seems so weird that all these rich kids are committing sill crimes.
- Why do these University students talk like they are in high school, it really throws me off sometimes.
-That I didn't see more of Aiden and Elsa and their family, I think I expected a lot more appearances by them and was kind of disappointed by what we got.

Overall this was a good book, I loved the family and close-knit friends aspect, I loved seeing the first-gen characters that I love and I love the chaos that comes with Rina Kent books, I'm quite excited for the rest of the series!"
