In this explosive page turner by a New York Times bestselling author, a book editor travels to a Southern island to work with a mysterious author–and ends up uncovering a shocking truth about a carefully concealed crime. It's rare for an unsolicited manuscript to pique book editor Maris Matherly-Reed’s interest, but a new submission with blockbuster potential inspires her to seek out the author on an obscure island off the Georgia coast. Parker Evans is a writer determined to conceal his identity as well as his past. As she begins to work with him, Maris suspects that his tale about a missing person might be closer to fact than fiction. Disturbed by this realization–and her growing attraction to Parker–she searches for clues relating to a crime committed long ago. When someone close to Maris suddenly dies, an evil presence looms even closer: a man who will use anything–and anyone–to get what he wants . . .

"Sandra Brown is officially my favorite author. And this is my favorite book of hers. I was skeptical at first when I found out about Parker’s disability and I was worried about how that would work since there’s supposed to be romance, but I kept reading because the plot sounded good and this seems to be one of her most loved books. I’m so glad I went through with it because this is definitely her best. It’s so unique, with the manuscript storyline and Maris’ storyline unraveling simultaneously. Both plots are addictive. The romance is SO good. Parker and Maris have a constant, tense fire burning between them in each scene. The book is a slow burn, but nonetheless a page turner. Sandra Brown knows exactly how to keep you on the edge of your seat, even for 500 pages. Her writing technique is so vivid and detailed. I was amazed at the final line of the manuscript chapter when he’s stranded in the water. She also writes each character so well. Her skill made me feel such a burning hatred for the antagonist. Wow I love this book. After writing all this I think it’s my favorite book ever. "
