"All she wanted was the life she deserved... until she got it."

And she sure got it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I gave this 4 stars for 2 reasons:
-Amber's POV in the first half is longwinded af.
-Once I read pg 120 I knew that Jackson was abusive and Amber was going to get everything
she bargained for.

Part 1 is from Amber's POV. She is a young (26 I believe), beautiful, ambitious, and determined woman who has her eyes set on Jackson Parrish, who is everything any woman would want. She plans to get him by any means necessary. The first 200 pages are basically the writers setting the scene of the life of Daphne Parrish from Amber's eyes, her envy, and her plan slowly coming together. They could have cut that in half. It was so much of Amber describing the opulence of Daphne's life and her secret disdain for it all. We definitely got it.

Secondly, I was kinda upset I figured it out so soon when I still had over 200 pages to read. I didn't see Daphne orchestrating it all tho. Maybe that's why the ending isn't a let down bc I didn't see that.

I understand that this book can be triggering, but I don't think it should be held against the book. Yes, Daphne's part of the book was hard to read sometimes, but abuse isn't pretty. It isn't nice. It is real tho.

Also, I see many people disliking that Daphne used Amber to get out of the marriage and nobody deserves abuse. No she doesn’t deserve it, but….

Amber really made that bed. NOBODY made her do this. She took it upon herself to invade this woman's life, pretend to befriend her by using her dead sister, "steal her husband," and even get pregnant on purpose to further trap him.

But why?? Bc she declared she deserved better a life. Daphne's life. Dassit.

So it's not ok for her to sleep in the bed she made until she can figure out how to get out? Daphne didn't owe her a ******* thing but a thank you. Amber even messed with other people's lives to get Jackson: Bunny, Gregg, and Mrs. Battley. Now she has to be the adult she was when she plotted to "take" Daphne's life. You get back what you put out.
