Ann Rule
Utterly unique in its astonishing intimacy, as jarringly frightening as when it first appeared, Ann Rule's The Stranger Beside Me defies our expectation that we would surely know if a monster lived among us, worked alongside of us, appeared as one of us. With a slow chill that intensifies with each heart-pounding page, Rule describes her dawning awareness that Ted Bundy, her sensitive coworker on a crisis hotline, was one of the most prolific serial killers in America. He would confess to killing at least thirty-six young women from coast to coast, and was eventually executed for three of those cases.Drawing from their correspondence that endured until shortly before Bundy's death, and striking a seamless balance between her deeply personal perspective and her role as a crime reporter on the hunt for a savage serial killer -- the brilliant and charismatic Bundy, the man she thought she knew -- Rule changed the course of true-crime literature with this unforgettable chronicle.

"If you love true crime, then you must read this. The author, Ann Rule, was just getting started as a true crime author when her old coworker Ted Bundy was arrested for being a horrific serial killer. Her writing is factual while moving at the pace of a thriller. One of the greatest true crime writers of all time and this book put her over the top"
"There is so much to this story. I had previously watched the Netflix movie with Zac Efron based on the book written by Ted Bundy’s ex-girlfriend and thought I knew the story. After reading less than a quarter of this book I wondered if I forgot everything, so I watched the movie again to find out how little it actually told. There is sooooo much information to digest and take in. It was a very long read (over 700 pages), but so informative. Definitely an interesting read for those who love true crime and can stomach serial killer reads. "
"Took me forever to read, but I enjoyed every second of it. So much information I didn’t know. Though I will be honest I doubted the credibility considering it was written by someone who knew Bundy, and who later went on to say that they met the Green River Killer, if I’m not mistaken? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"
"I'm slightly overwhelmed by my thoughts on this book. It's one of the most fascinating books I've read, but it's so ****** up. I didn't agree with everything Ann Rule said, but her vantage point was very interesting. There's also a little bit of cultural ridiculousness, so I kept having to remind myself this was originally written in the 80s."
"This book truly makes you reflect on how much you truly know people, whether it be your coworker, friend, or family member. It shows how people can have different identities in different scenarios "
