David Sedaris
A guy walks into a bar car and...From here the story could take many turns. When this guy is David Sedaris, the possibilities are endless, but the result is always the same: he will both delight you with twists of humor and intelligence and leave you deeply moved. Sedaris remembers his father's dinnertime attire (shirtsleeves and underpants), his first colonoscopy (remarkably pleasant), and the time he considered buying the skeleton of a murdered Pygmy. With Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls, David Sedaris shows once again why his work has been called "hilarious, elegant, and surprisingly moving" (Washington Post).

"Some of the funniest essays. I like the ones where he talks as if he’s a middle aged housewife who just got married to her sisters ex husband and her sister is now currently a “bitter paraplegic” it’s obviously supposed to be stupid because the fact that the character he is playing is a horrible person. I love all the different stories that took place on planes!!! So good!!!"
"To be honest I wasn't a huge fan. There were parts I found funny and I think he tells a good story. But the whole last fictional satirical narrative was just bad. Also I feel it pushed the offensive line for no reason. Like he had a check list each chapter and needed to make sure he got in a minimum number of offensive terms to meet his quota. I wasn't offended it just got old. Like someone who swears every other word but doesn't say much. I'm gonna try his other book though, me talk pretty one day to compare."

"I really enjoyed this one. The parts about his father and colonoscopy exams in particular. A lot of this was from an audio book, which doesn't seem to be a fair count since listening to him feels more like watching a wonderful show on TV. This one gave some interesting/horrifying insight into his childhood, which I hadn't heard before."
"I loved much of the first half and there were many laugh-out-loud parts and perfectly-and hilariously-described moments that will stay with me. It lost me during the last few chapters though - too many "huh?" moments."
