Alchemy: the mystical power to alter the natural world; something between magic, art, and science. When two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, dabbled in this power to grant their dearest wish, one of them lost an arm and a leg...and the other became nothing but a soul locked into a body of living steel. Now Edward is a agent of the government, a slave of the military-alchemical complex, using his unique powers to obey orders...even to kill. Except his powers aren't unique. The world has been ravaged by the abuse of alchemy. And in the pursuit of the ultimate alchemical treasure, the Philosopher's Stone, their enemies are even more ruthless than they are...

"3.7

The first time i read it i had a hard time reading it and i wasn’t interested so i DNF it. Then i decided to pick up the book again and give it a shot. I was more interesting in the story but i didn’t understand what was going on. It is probably the fact that this is my first magma. I had to figure out the order to read everything. To get a better understanding i watched the first episode on Netflix and it was good. I don’t watch much anime but i enjoyed it. Once i finished the rest episode i went to the beginning and read it and it was good. I enjoyed it. I would defiantly read more in the future.

The characters were good. You can’t really get attached to any character exept for the main two because everyone just disappears by the end of the chapter. I thought that Rose would play some kind of part in the whole story but she disappears.

In the show i enjoy the brothers relationship more than in the magma. It was funny and they gave Alphonse more personality. In the first magma even though Alphonse is one of the main characters it felt like most of the time he was just their following Edward. In chapter one he wasn’t even in the first fight.

The world building was ok. You get to see a few different areas but they don’t expand on them. The areas are kinda similar. It’s not like you are discovering a world really different. There is no “Wow” factor in the world building."
