Topic: The Truman Show
Peter Weir (dir: Witness, The Truman Show, Master & Commander, Dead Poets Society, etc) announced that he is officially retired. It’s not surprising since he hasn’t made a film in over 10 years and is in his 70s, but I was hoping he would make one more. I always thought he was underrated but he struggled to find an audience for the last half of his career. Anyone else a fan of his work? ,[object Object],

Sher Free✌️ Oh yes huge fan! Standouts to me are The Year of Living Dangerously, Gallipoli and Picnic at Hanging Rock, and of course Witness and The Mosquito Coast. Even Green Card and Fearless were really good. So I guess pretty much everything lol. Definitely a loss but he’s left a wonderful body of work that hopefully people will enjoy for years to come.

Ryan I haven’t saw The Mosquito Coast but I’ve heard it’s a real departure for Ford.

Sher Free✌️ One of his best roles, maybe best. It’s a very uncomfortable stressful film which I think made it hard for a mass audience who was coming off his stellar work and massive success in Witness. But I probably should watch it again. It’s been a long time and one of those films I’ve only been able do once. Maybe will try a rewatch eventually.

Audrey He is my all time favorite director. I had hoped he would remake The Cars That Ate Paris in the same way that George Miller remade Mad Max.
