Just finished watching the first episode of this absolute banger! I can already tell you I'm hooked! If you have seen it, I would love to discuss and see other people's takes on the first episode.

I've been seeing trailers lately. I'm curious. But it also looks like it might have a ridiculous tone.

It's just the first episode. So it's kind of hard to gauge where it's eventually going to go. But I like the creators' other work, and so far in the action is peak. I would expect nothing less because it was choreographed by the legendary Chad Stahelski (John Wick). This has been hyped for a long time, and so far, episode 1 lives up to the hype. This show is a perfect mix of style and substance utilized to create something fkn spectacular!

Watanabe usually uses a ridiculous tone via intentional creative choices and makes it work.

Bombastic with a heavy philosophical twist. Super though provoking.

Great first episode. Incredible storyboarding, cinematography, and action sequences. Fairly little character development, but that'll come later. I do like how the premise calls pharmaceutical manufacturers and the pharmaceutical review process into question, having seen black box warnings added to and de-listings of numerous drugs over the years, including some that were promoted as game changing on release.

It seems like there's a couple of adult oriented shows out there nowadays that cover this topic. The pharmaceutical industry and the effects of late stage capitalism. I like how it has given us a little bit to think about in regards to the moral complexity of such an issue. This show really pairs well with something else that's out now called common side effects, which I really recommend everyone at least give a chance. All of the very heady themes land well, and I can't wait to see where the show goes in the future.

I'd thought that about Common Side Effects, too. And both are streaming on Max exclusively, if I'm not mistaken.
