A Killing in a Small Town

"The first of three shows/movies I am watching about the axe murder of Betty Gore by Christian housewife Candy Montgomery on June 13, 1980, in Wylie, Texas. She was struck 41 times. How could she be acquitted? I found this made for tv movie because I went down a rabbit hole, which is quite normal for me. Snapchat video about Kaley Cuoco's fashion choices over the last two decades leads to a search on who her significant other is. He looks familiar, so look to see if he's been in anything you've seen, which he has... Ozark. Then look at what else he's been in. Find out he was in a miniseries with the Scarlet Witch herself called Love & Death, which was released in April 2023. Watch a short clip of him in the show. Start looking further into the show and find out it's a biographical crime drama and that another show you've had in your Hulu to-be-watched queue called Candy is another limited series about the same person, Candy Montgomery. In that one, she's portrayed by Jessica Biel, and it aired in May 2022 on Max. Look to see how many shows/movies/documentaries have been made about the 41 strokes axe murderer and find that there was only one other called A Killing in a Small Town, a CBS TV movie which aired in 1990, starring Barbara Hershey as the titular killer. And finally, do a search on how to watch that old tv movie, finding it free to watch on YouTube. What other choice did I have but to watch it? Barbara Hershey was amazing. She really channeled Candy and ended up winning both the Emmy and the Golden Globe for her believable portrayal. Brian Dennehy was also really good. For an old tv movie, it was actually quite good although the quality was sorely lacking. I didn't mind, though. I'm looking forward to watching the next two shows to see if one or both of the others (Biel and Olsen) do as good of a job. Stay tuned!
