"AP journalist Mstyslav Chernov’s on-the-ground documentary 20 Days in Mariupol highlights the true terror of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the devastating effects it has on the innocent civilians in Mariupol. The harrowing footage and traumatic interviews capture the degree of horror that is still happening in Ukraine.
This film served as a bold reminder of how radically out of touch and unaware a lot of Americans are (myself included) when it comes to complicated geopolitical conflicts. The mainstream media only shows a small percentage of what is really going on in Ukraine, let alone the rest of the world.
If you want to have a clearer understanding of what is happening in the world, you have to actively seek out difficult information from a variety of sources. This is often not an easy experience, but it’s necessary in order to have a more well-rounded view of human nature and the world we live in.
