The bold escapades of tough-talking Calamity Jane Canary and her illustrious cohorts. It's the waning days of the Wild West and Jane, the rough 'n' rugged cowgirl, is searching not only for her long-lost daughter, but the Wild West she once knew. Jane traverses plains, mountains and continents until she finally discovers the answer to her problems: Dora, the vivacious, gold-hearted madam who's been her one true friend all along.

"4Β½β This two-part miniseries was a rewatch from a long time ago, and it was even better than I had remembered. It's mostly based on the friendship between Calamity Jane (Anjelica Huston) and Dora DuFran (Melanie Griffith). You also see other familiar actors in here such as: Wild Bill Hickok (Sam Elliott), Buffalo Bill Cody (Peter Coyote), Bartle Bone (Jack Palance), Annie Oakley (Reba McEntire), Ogden (Liev Schreiber), and more famous characters of the Wild West. Although it's based on real people, it's not quite historically accurate, no, but I would say quite entertaining, yes. In those three hours I did get attached to the characters, therefore there were a few emotional parts for me here and there... It's adapted from the 1990 novel of the same name by Larry McMurtry. I see it's been nominated for several different kinds of awards, winning the Emmy for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Drama Miniseries or a Special. Once I started, I watched through to the end. I HAD TO see how it ended as Calamity Jane was on a certain mission and I looked forward to seeing how that all turned out for her. I had forgotten a lot from the last time I watched this, and so it was like watching for the first time, even though this may have been at least my third time seeing this. (On Prime and Tubi at this time.)"
