After a flight back home, Sam Hendrix returns with a doll he innocently acquired along the way. As it turns out, the doll is actually stuffed with heroin, and a group of criminals led by the ruthless Roat has followed Hendrix back to his place to retrieve it. When Hendrix leaves for business, the crooks make their move -- and find his blind wife, Susy, alone in the apartment. Soon, a life-threatening game begins between Susy and the thugs.

"This suspense thriller starring Audrey Hepburn, Alan Arkin, Richard
Crenna and Ephrem Zimbalist has a haunting feel to it. It starts out very simple. The plot opens and introduces us to a young blind woman and her husband going about their daily lives. Then slowly we see how their lives will change greatly after events of the day begin in earnest. Audrey's character Susy Hendrix's life turns upside down in one day. I really liked the fact that although most of the story takes place in one location, I didn't feel completely trapped. I started to understand how that area was Susy's whole life. We see the character go from comfort to horror because of how Audrey plays her. I once saw an old interview in which Audrey said that she wanted to portray the character as understanding her environment, and having control over it and she does that very well. As always, her acting is great and absorbing. This movie showcases her acting skills. The other three actors supporting her were a revelation because I never realized they could portray such desperate and evil people. Great movie! Definitely worth waiting out the slow burn of the plot. "
"3.5 Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkins strong performances drove this gripping suspenseful movie."

"Audrey Hepburn is great in this film as a blind woman who has to outwit two criminals in her home. The men are looking for a doll, with a heroin stash inside, that mistakenly ended up there. This isn’t a typical home invasion because the criminals are trying to trick her, with a series of impersonations, so she will give them the information they need. This cat and mouse game runs most of the movie and the tension just builds and builds.
This was Hepburn’s final film before her retirement from acting in 1967. Though she would occasionally return (she made 4 features post-retirement), this film is a fitting capper to one of the greatest 15 year acting runs in history.
4.5 out 5 stars"

"Audrey Hepburn portrays a blind protagonist. To prepare for the role, Hepburn attended the Lighthouse School for the Blind and learned to read braille (although not perfectly, as is apparent if you watch closely while she reads.) Her character is one of the best portrayals of a disability I have seen. Hepburn’s character is recently blind, and still learning how to navigate life as a blind person. The world is still quite scary to her, and now, she’s being hunted."
"Probably the only Audrey Hepburn movie I don't like "
