"A thoroughly enjoyable early 70s apocalyptic scenario. While not strictly zombies, I think it’s fair to say the genre has broadened over the last 20 years (starting w/ 28 Days Later) to include films that center around the ‘end-of-the-world-caused-by-a-plague’ with malevolent disease victims and a few healthy survivors. So all of the movies based on Matheson’s novel are in the zone. This Charlton Heston version has plenty of flashbacks to the cause and fall of society, and a but of mystery and a twist. In fact, the plague victims are the weakest aspect of the film. Great watch IMO!"
