"Mothers in Italy make a hard choice to send their children to the northern part of Italy for a better life. The children didn’t have enough food to eat had no shoes and very dirty. This was to be temporary so when it was time to return back, the one son wondered could he stay with his mother after he has learned what love is. "
"This revealed an obscure part of Italian history. In post-war Naples, families were so poor, many had to put their children on one of the Communist Party’s Trains of Happiness. That’s young Amerigo’s story. He is sent north to live in better conditions. The boy’s affection is shared by his impoverished mother and his financially comfortable adoptive mother. There are no easy answers for the child with two mothers. That is the point of this heartfelt piece of Italian cinema. "
