"Such an extremely well made and interesting film! Despite being characterized a heist movie, this movie is focused more on a man trying to recruit a retired thief for a heist than the heist itself. What really stands out are the absolutely captivating (and sometimes hilarious) back-and-forth lines of dialogue between the main character and the recruiter as well as the editing and cinematography. Ray Winstone is so good in the lead role as the retired thief, while Ben Kingsley really stands out as the sociopathic recruiter Don Logan, who manages to be both incredibly intimidating and absolutely hilarious at the same time (an incredibly well-deserved Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for Kingsley) (Ian McShane also deserves a shout out for managing to leave an impression with very limited screen time). Quite a way to debut as a director for Jonathan Glazer, and an indication of just how much his directing skills have evolved from that to THE ZONE OF INTEREST. I’m now interested in checking out Glazer’s other films and this film is recommended if one is interested in a more dialogue-driven film with really interesting filmmaking flair thrown in."
