"This French language indie horror film was a bizarre one. The most interesting thing about it was that it's all filmed in one continuous take... No cuts! That, in itself, is a commendable achievement. Not only because of the technical aspect of filming in this style but because that keeps the viewer engaged in fear of missing something pertinent to the story. But beyond that, I felt that the characters were unlikeable and the story was convoluted where by the end you only have a vague idea of what is happening. Interesting but, ultimately disappointing. 5.5/10"
"Day 18 of #Spooktober French horror flick Mads. Yeah this was a lot of fun from beginning to end. This is another one of the best horror films I’ve seen this year. This is like the 1942 film had a baby with 28 days later and Mads was born. That’s really the vibe I was getting. I had to make sure 28 days later wasn’t connected in any kind of way. This is a one shot rollercoaster that will keep your eyes glued to the choas. Horror fans I #highlyrecommend y’all watch this.

"Man this one was awesome! I don’t want to talk it up too much because then people are going to have The Exorcist or Hereditary level expectations when in reality I had zero expectations for MADS but was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. So with this movie there’s no edits. Like at all. This movie takes place entirely in one single edit and there’s no separate shots that occur when someone walks through a dark hall or room or anything. It truly is one edit which is incredible because there actually some pretty amazing set pieces going on. It’s not all taking place in one single room or house. There’s also a lot of action going on right from the get go so the technical aspect of how they created this is incredible in itself. If one person messes up they would have had to start over. That total commitment shows on screen. There’s just this intensity that shows up on the screen and usually this wannabe one take aspect is gimmicky but here it actually helps the film. The other aspect that was interesting here was the main character’s. They’re not exactly high society or what one would consider likable people by any standard but you do come to sympathize for them with their predicament which gets emotional buy in that is too rare with this genre. It’s okay and desirable to care about your characters and by the end of this I was surprisingly invested in them, even rooting for them to escape even though the premise alone tells you the possibility of that is unlikely. In short this is an original horror thriller that gets it mostly right and that should be applauded in my mind. This is true indie horror that’s audacious in scope and punches above its weight through out and should definitely be seen. I’m gushing but in reality it’s not Citizen Kane. It’s a movie that succeeds on what it set out to do. Highly recommended. "
