"it's amazing and also deeply sad to see how many of the things the panthers fought for are still necessary. social programs. critical race theory combined with education. protection from police. affordable and humane housing. it's also really sad to watch huey before his descent into paranoia, drugs, and abuse, he seemed really incredible in the sixties.
makes me hate the FBI even more."
"After watching Malcolm X and Judas and the Black Messiah, I felt the need to watch this. It's the perfect companion piece to those two movies. To be honest, I had a very vague idea of what the Black Panthers were. They've been mostly portrayed has a black power movement, but I was surprised to find that they were so much more than that oversimplification. They certainly seemed very progressive and ahead of there times. Anyway, do yourself a favour, and go watch this. It's only 28 minutes long."
