The abuse, the dysfunction, the generational trauma. I never realized that there are people out there who don’t believe accusations made by Joan Crawford’s daughter (Christina Crawford) in a book (of the same name) that led to the making of this movie. Regardless of what the truth is: this movie, and the events that take place in it, are disturbing. We may laugh at the wire hangers bit and other happenings, but it’s important to be mindful of the fact that “Mommie Dearest” resonates deeply for so many. This movie is genuinely disturbing."
