"4/10. This is an "acid film", in the vein of Zappa's "200 Motels". As a matter of fact, Frank Zappa appears in this film. The Monkees were desperate to break away from their bubblegum TV mold, so this psychedelic project attempted to take them into a groovy and serious direction like respected rock bands of the late 60s. However, this film essentially was the last hurrah for the Monkees."
