"This was a cute, golden age musical. It’s a tad melodramatic, but par the course for musicals of that period. I can understand why JFK was so obsessed with the broadway show. The songs were lovely, albeit a bit repetitive. My favorite was definitely “If I Ever Would Leave You.” I found this variation of the story of King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table interesting. I’ve never heard of a version of the story where Arthur knew Guinevere and Lancelot were having an affair and banished those who accused them of it. I also found Guinevere and Lancelot’s dynamic extremely interesting. Having them go from enemies to lovers was unexpected, but compelling. As a whole, this was a solid musical watch except it was extremely LONG. If you decide to watch this film, schedule a bunch of free time for it."
"Memorable and catchy songs to sing along to, but was not engaged with plot or the characters."
