"half in mandarin, half in english, absolutely incredible, one of my faves, about the classic chinese idea of "saving face" in which a mother and daughter both have things that would make their community shun them.
it follows a surgeon named Wil, whose mother suddenly moves in with her due to a... growing problem. at the same time, Wil is falling for a free-spirited dancer named Vivian.

"This movie manages to stay adorable and light while touching on pretty heavy issues throughout the story. I’d argue that, while this is a romance, familial love and loyalty is a greater aspect to this story. Really well cast. I like how when the POC are alone, they don’t resort to English to communicate just to pander the audience like a lot of movies do. They speak their native language. Highly recommend."
