Werckmeister Harmonies

"I run into an issue trying to describe this movie where I think it's an incredibly interesting and potentially very moving movie that i didn't get and wasn't moved by. Honestly, I wish I got more out of the central metaphor than the vague notion that the dead whale was a metaphor for, like, society man... or something. And there are things I loved about the movie. The score is beautiful and the way it was used surprised me. It was much more aggressive than the score of movies like this tend to be and it was something different and interesting. The riot scene was transcendent and the whale itself looked crazy. Both of which made me pay attention... although that's also helped by how frequently nothing was happening. Basically, Werkmeister Harmonies is an incredibly dense, beautiful, interesting movie... that i also found incredibly boring. I wish I had been as engaged as so many others who have seen it have been."
