"This film is one that you see online in a list of classic films to watch. I am sad to type this, but, I was bored by it. Some scenes are too long, and others are too short for my taste. I am only rating it four stars because of the wonderful direction, and obvious respect and love for the Kenyan lands. This beautifully directed film stars Clark Gable as the lead hunter in an African safari. Ava Gardner and Grace Kelly, the two most beautiful and talented actresses of the 1950s star as the femme fatales. When the backdrop of Kenya is shown with its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, it really shines. There are many scenes of African wildlife, and the sounds of the jungle are immersive. Obviously John Ford made a point of showing the beauty of the country. The plot is simple: Clark Gable and Grace Kelly let their emotions overcome them in a strange love triangle that develops with Ava Gardner. The acting was good, but not great. I also wish there were subtitles in the film, so I could understand what the native people were saying. Oh well. I can scratch this film off my classic films to watch now."
