"Sean Penn is ripped!
Anyhoo, can't say I am a fan of this movie. I love action flicks but this one was a bit hard for me to grasp what was going on at first. When it finally made sense, I found I didn't much care. The love interest was boring and Javier was a loser, setting up events so he could get the girl who clearly loved another. *yawn*
The fighting was fun, as usual. Not sure why Idris was in it. His character didn't work for me even though he was as cute as ever. All the people you expect will die, do. I am tired of the trope of the good friend not making it...Unless you're an Expendable!
2/5*s just for entertainment value because, as you all know, I'm easily entertained!
Edit: Forgot to mention the bullfighting. I am EXTREMELY OPPOSED to animal abuse, torture, and Murder, and that's wht bullfighting is. I didn't see in the credits anything about no animals were harmed in the making of the movie so I searched it. Bullfighting has been outlawed in Barcelona since 2012 and even though the film makers tried to get them to lift it for a few scenes, they were told no as Barcelona continues to distance themselves from the bull killing society of Spain. So they used oxen and computer generated effects to make them look like bulls. I still am not sure if the oxen were hurt so I'm going to take away ALL stars. Unfortunately I have to give at least one star but it doesn't deserve any. I think if NO ANIMALS were hurt, the Humane Sociery would have been in the credits so unless I hear otherwise, this movie DOES have real animal abuse and torture in the despicable "sport" of bullfighting.
