Testament of Youth is a powerful story of love, war and remembrance, based on the First World War memoir by Vera Brittain, which has become the classic testimony of that war from a woman’s point of view. A searing journey from youthful hopes and dreams to the edge of despair and back again, it’s a film about young love, the futility of war and how to make sense of the darkest times.

"This anti-war romance movie, set during the First World War, is based on the memoirs of Vera Brittain. This movie is one of my favorite movies, it follows the suffragette Vera Brittain who’s dream is to become a writer. However, rather than most war movies, this shows the perspective on the home front rather than in the trenches. Although, as an anti-war film it does not shy from the harsh realities of the First World War. Highly recommend for First World War enthusiasts, as myself, as well as those who enjoy gloomy romance films. I find the poetry and the music to be phenomenal, the darker tones in the music fit perfectly with the shots and the settings to show the horrors of the war and to give an anti-war sentiment. Overall, I give this film a 10/10."
