In 1818, high-spirited young Fanny Brawne finds herself increasingly intrigued by the handsome but aloof poet John Keats, who lives next door to her family friends the Dilkes. After reading a book of his poetry, she finds herself even more drawn to the taciturn Keats. Although he agrees to teach her about poetry, Keats cannot act on his reciprocated feelings for Fanny, since as a struggling poet he has no money to support a wife.

"I liked this but didn't love it. I was unfamiliar with Keats and did not know what to expect from this story. It was beautiful and scenic. I was annoyed by the character of Charles Brown. I was curious and looked him up to see about his lineage and I must say I think this movie does Charles Armitage Brown a disservice making him almost villain like. He saved a lot of Keats garbage poems, drew pictures of Keats and is probably more responsible for the promotion of Keats work than Keats himself. The actors were very good. It was very beautiful. I liked it but did not love it."
