"I remember when this story broke and the subsequent manhunt for Edward Snowden in the media. At the time my father, a veteran, was very critical of Snowden’s actions along with the rest of the media. Being a teenager I also felt similarly, what he did was illegal and a threat to national security. As years have past I’ve begun to realize the situation (and life in general) isn’t as black and white. This film does a great job at illustrating that point. When does doing something illegal become the right thing to do? The government was acting on the border of the law with their surveillance of millions of American citizens for the sake of national security. Snowden illegally leaked classified government data to inform the public of what the government was doing. Who was “right”? That’s the question. This film doesn’t seek to answer that question, but poses it without taking one side over the other. "
