"I just watched this quirky romantic comedy after many years. It was still just as silly, fun, and all John Malkovitch as I remembered! John plays the creator as well as the Android look-alike who is destined for a 7-year journey to outer space. 🌌 🚀 Enter: Ann Magnuson, a fast-talking ad executive who loves to makeover people's images. As you can guess, predictable but sweet and funny things happen to confuse the Android who is just starting to experience the complications of the human female. Laurie Metcalfe stars in a small role as a prospective girlfriend to the Android. Enjoy this popcorn movie. I found it on TUBI streaming."
"4.5⭐️ Rewatch. For anyone who loves silly 80s movies and hasn’t heard of this one PLEASE .. just see it!! This movie I have watched again and again over the years and boy do I feel so very alone in my undying love lol
First, it’s worth it just for John Malkovich’s dual role. Take my word for it, he’s adorable, sexy and hilarious. HE IS!! Also Ann Magnusson. When I first saw it I thought she was the most magnificent thing I’d ever seen. Seriously, check out those amazing cut-out dresses. I was desperate for them all through my corporate dress-up years and never found anything close nor could I come near to emulating her [sigh]. Then there’s PEAK Laurie Metcalfe with her spray tan, limp Farrah do and unhinged desperation, which she’s always been so good at but I’m betting may have begun here. She’s been on my radar ever since.
AND it’s just fun and really funny. Filled with great lines and pitch perfect over the top comedic performances. Sure it makes zero sense and the whole premise is held together more flimsily than a house of cards but none of it matters. If we had Weird Science we can have this. It is my personal niche movie and I love it above all the others 🤣
Personal Niche Movie: One possibly you alone adore because it marks all the right boxes of your emotional psyche checklist (I just made this up). "
"🤣🤣🤣 OMG this was an ABSOLUTE BLAST!!!!!!! (pun intended, lol) Loved it!!!!!!! So very funny and more... Grabbed me right from the start. I DID laugh out loud a # of times, which I don't usually do, so that says something as my laugh meter was "up there." 🤣🤣🤣 THANKS @sher_free for this VERY ENTERTAINING recommendation!!!!!!! My Sunday night was perfect due to this movie. I can see this one as a regular rewatch, yes."
