Hugo Chavez was a colourful, unpredictable folk hero who was beloved by his nation’s working class. He was elected president of Venezuela in 1998, and proved to be a tough, quixotic opponent to the power structure that wanted to depose him. When he was forcibly removed from office on 11 April 2002, two independent filmmakers were inside the presidential palace.

"This doc takes place during the US-backed coup of 2002, when Hugo Chavez was ousted by the opposition for 48 hours and returned with the help of the working people, who took to the streets, and loyal members of the military. This is a good intro to understand current relations with venezuela. Bottom line is: venezuela has been under seige from the empire since 2002. Everyone who says Maduro ran the country to the ground needs to educate themselves and learn that the game was rigged against venezuela from the start. Millions of people cant live the way they ought to not because of Maduro, but because of US sanctions and sabotage by the venezuelan capitalist class. We must stand firm against imperialism. Last time i checked this doc was available for free on youtube. Get your game on. Knowledge is power!"
