"I really appreciated the way Satoshi Kon managed to not only create a touching love story, but also seamlessly tie Chiyuko's acting career and all her movies into the story without detracting from the story itself, even enhancing it. It was a wonderful blend of comedy, I actually laughed when it cut to her and the interviewer reenacting the horseback fight, tragedy and romance. This movie managed to capture her whole life briefly and beautifully. A true work of art."
"Oh. My. God. This movie was my introduction to Satoshi Kon and I honestly think it's an underrated masterpiece. Perfect Blue certainly deserves all the hype it gets, but the seamless blending of fiction and reality in this film is stunning. Great use of recurring visual motifs to create an emotional through line as well. Plus I'm just a sucker for vintage and historical inspired costuming."
