"I've read many reviews for this movie that totally trashed it, no doubt that they were from the many fans of the original video game. I've never played the Borderland game so my review is strictly on the merits of the movie itself. I enjoyed it. I especially liked the overall look of the film...the bright, colorful characters and scenery set against the contrasting drab and desolate landscape of the planet, Pandora. It made for a pleasing aesthetic. I will say that Kevin Hart seemed out of place in his role and Jack Black voicing the little robot, Clap Trap added nothing to the film other than a constant annoyance reminiscent of Jar Jar Binks from the Star Wars franchise. Other than that, the movie is a fun popcorn flick. Good pacing, quirky characters, cool action sequences and some original sci-fi designs. I get that they were aiming for a younger audience with the PG-13 rating, but I still liked it for what it was. 8/10"
"I thought it was a great comedy and action movie. I haven't played or heard of the game before, but it seems like a lot of people didn't like this movie because of the game and how they compared. The cast was amazing, but the movie, like most, is predictable. It's still a good watch overall, though."
"This got murdered by the critics. The biggest issue seems to be Eli Roth made a happy, PG-13, family movie night type movie based on a dark in tone, violent video game that even the company President called disappointing. But I liked it. This is one of those movies I’m sure I liked 75% more based on my state of mind at the time. But great cast. Kinda funny. Cate Blanchette playing a badass vixen, Kevin Hart playing the hero earnestly, Gina Gershon’s bust, and cheesy fun action scenes every 15 minutes. Yes, I would have rather seen a darker, more violent take. But for someone like me who’s constantly looking for fun new action movies, I’m in. "
"I didn't laugh once Kevin hart was tolerable so that's saying something weird fun fact I watched this after inglorious bastards which has eli roth acting and this movie was directed by him. This movie had nothing new generic story line generic action if it didn't have Jaime Lee Curtis and cate Blanchett I would of turned this off to be honest "
"Like my review of Fallout, I've never played the video game of this, but I did sense the video game feel of the movie, and truly did enjoy the film.
I believe that everyone did a great job on their roles making the film as good as it was, and can say since it was a video game, there shouldn't be that much of a problem of continuous shooting in the film without reloading unless if that is truly something that bothers you.
Could it have been a series? I believe that it could have and also believe that if it was a series, they could tell more of a story about more than what they did in the film.
If you're a fan of Fallout, you'll definitely be a fan of this movie. "

"Not very attention grabbing as I thought it was going to be. It was a good cast but the dialogue wasn’t stimulating, the characters seemed a little vague (except for Lilith and her flashbacks) and the story concept felt basic/formulaic. The girl and the robot annoyed me. The comic relief was not there (at least for my tastes), the sense of humor didn’t make me chuckle/laugh either. A little bit disappointed with the movie."
"The only reason I watched this was the bad buzz it was getting. I saw this had a single digit rotten score. The CEO of Take 2 Interactive said to give it a chance. So I did. And it was as bad as they said it was. Very little by way of character development. The slang and lingo used sounded like dudes my age trying to sound cool using words no one uses any more. It wasn't funny. You have Kevin Hart and you lean on the other actors for comedy? He was just a faceless soilder. The plot is transparent and paper thin. These are some of the worst special effects I have seen with a budget this size. Clearly alot of this was done in post production. Jack Black is the voice of a robot but it really could have been anyone. They don't let him really bring his personality to the character. Yeah you can 100% avoid this one.
