"Modesty Blaise isn’t a “good” movie but it is an interesting one. This is one of many movies that studios pumped out in the mid-60s to capitalize on the James Bond phenomenon. However, it’s really a British Mod-era pop art film that has just enough of a spy plot to keep its financiers happy. It stars Monica Vitti, who has the charisma to pull off the role and seems totally onboard with all this ridiculousness, and an almost unrecognizably young Terrance Stamp. It reminded me a lot of the Italian movie Danger: Diabolik, from the same era. Both were based on comic strips, had nonsensical plots and had very campy tones. However, they each also had a sense of style and inventiveness that put them a notch above being “just another Bond knockoff”. 3 out 5 stars"
