Three teenagers are confined to an isolated country estate that could very well be on another planet. The trio spend their days listening to endless homemade tapes that teach them a whole new vocabulary. Any word that comes from beyond their family abode is instantly assigned a new meaning. Hence 'the sea' refers to a large armchair and 'zombies' are little yellow flowers. Having invented a brother whom they claim to have ostracized for his disobedience, the uber-controlling parents terrorize their offspring into submission.

"Dogtooth is not a horror but it’s absolutely terrifying. The power that manipulative, mentally unwell parents have over their children is cranked to an extreme in this film. The fact that there’s probably parents out there somewhere in the world that raise their kids in this way makes me sick. Highly recommend!"
"Haven’t been blow away from a film in quite a while but this definitely takes the cake. If your okay with being disturbed and intrigued then you might wanna check this out. Definitely one of a kind in a good bizarre way."

"The incest due to lack of socializing and the lack of the outside. The abuse of being not told anything about growing up or life. The confinement and neglect alongside a controlling father. This movie ate at my mind but also felt like watching someone's abuse through a window. I hated the whole experience but it wouldn't be a good film if I enjoyed any part of being a witness to this torture."
"The movie that put Yorgos Lanthimos on the map. Someone might describe his idiosyncratic style as the Bizarro World version of Wes Anderson."

"This is one of the most bizarre movies I have ever seen. And for that reason, I loved it."
