"It’s hard to believe this movie actually exists. The film is trying to be a Dr. Strangelove style dark comedy about the conspiracy around a fictionalized version of the Kennedy assassination. It also has one of the strangest menageries of actors every assembled for a project. It is led by a young Jeff Bridges and John Huston (who isn’t chewing the scenery, he is devouring it). Screen legends Toshiro Mifune, Elizabeth Taylor, Anthony Perkins, Eli Wallach, Dorothy Malone and Sterling Hayden all pop in for a scene or two.
The film was originally financed by two drug traffickers. One was killed (allegedly by the mob) just prior to the premiere and the other ended up with a 40 years prison sentence, so it easy to see why the production was so troubled. The disjointed production shows in the film and the humor also misses more than it hits but the movie does have it’s moments that make it worth the watch. A movie about the making of this movie might be even more interesting."
