When vigilante land baron David Braxton hangs one of the best friends of cattle rustler Tom Logan, Logan's gang decides to get even by purchasing a small farm next to Braxton's ranch. From there the rustlers begin stealing horses, using the farm as a front for their operation. Determined to stop the thefts at any cost, Braxton retains the services of eccentric sharpshooter Robert E. Lee Clayton, who begins ruthlessly taking down Logan's gang.

"This is one fascinating film to say the least! The story is fairly standard, but the film’s pacing allows the viewer to emotionally invest in the main characters (and get to know them). The film manages to be compelling as a result. This is notable for being the only ever film to star both Marlon Brandon and Jack Nicholson together in the same movie, and both of them are great as usual (this film was the first project for both after their Oscar wins for THE GODFATHER and ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST respectively). Brando in particular is the MVP of the film, who really chews the scenery whenever he shows up. The supporting cast are also great, especially Harry Dean Stanton and John McLiam. Fantastic cinematography and score (the latter by John Williams, whose score was unlike any I’ve heard from him before). If anything, this is worth recommending to watch a unique piece of film history where two of the greatest actors of all time face off in the same movie."

"It’s ok, which is disappointing thing for Nicholson and Brando."
