"Although this film was set in an older time period, it’s interesting to see how not much has changed. Some kids will still snicker and judge the poor or different kids at school. Some teachers still get away with abuse of students, sometimes in the same manner, if not new methods. Certain religious groups will gather to pick apart the sinners, forgetting that they themselves are in fact sinners, sinning in this very act. Certain people will still shriek in terror at the mention of divorce and when wagging tongues have no genuine gossip to spread, they’ll make some up. "
