"First things that come to mind are Ferngulley, The Lorax, Hook, Barbie's Thumbellina, and Barbie: A Mermaid Tail. Not sure i can articulate exactly why my mind connects them; it's been a while since I watched Bunyan and Babe, but you might try some of them out and see if they have the kind of story you're craving"
