"This is a great and beautifully filmed survival film starring Mads Mikkelsen and Maria Thelma. He and another survivor from a crash in 🥶 extreme cold conditions must make their way back to safe conditions for a rescue. Mads is at his best in films which involve him pushing out of comfort zones, emotionally and physically. Be warned that there isn't much dialogue in the entire film. If knowing that bothers you, you can watch Mads in another film, but at the least try watching 10 minutes, and make your own decision."
"🌟6.8/10🌟 Mads Mikkelsen gives another solid performance in this tense #survival #thriller with very minimal dialog &, incredibly, only two actors! Not too much happens in the first 11 minutes, but the story & suspense do pick up after that. I would not brush this off as just another #CASTAWAY or #127HOURS, just because this film has its own unique #cinematography and a setting or terrain which poses different obstacles & scenarios which this man must overcome in order to survive.▪️Even though I found this equally #captivating as the other two aforementioned films, I didn’t “love” the ending of this one — But it’s worth a look if you’re a fan of such films or of #MadsMikkelsen, as he brilliantly injects a lot of pathos into his role here with such ease. 🥶🐻❄️ #blizzard #avalanche #frostbite #polarbears #SOS "
"Mads Mikkelsen. Need I say more? Ok, I'll say a little more if those two words weren't enough to intrigue you to watch this.
I'll start by saying I HATE TO BE COLD!!! I'm a warm weather woman. Right now it's 7 degrees outside but feels like -3, or so my phone says. How can I tell the difference between 7 degrees and -3 degrees? Cold is cold! We have to heat our house with space heaters which usually work great even when it gets down into the mid twenties. But right now it's freezing in our house and will continue to be for the next few days. I'm laying here in bed with only my nose and a hand sticking out from all the blankets, so I can hold my phone to watch Netflix. I've been too lazy to go find some gloves. So what do I decide to watch? Arctic! I've never felt more empathy and sympathy for survivalists as I lay here shivering watching Mads fight for his and another person's lives in the devastatingly freezing Arctic!
It's amazing watching his expertise in surviving this rigid terrain. Obviously, by the synopsis of the movie, you know he ends up fighting to save the life of another person so I don't think what I'm going to say next is a spoiler exactly. But feel free to skip reading the rest of this, if you are concerned with knowing much of anything about the movie going in. Anyhoo, Mads is surviving day to day, catching fish, making a huge SOS sign in the ground, sweeping snow off the rock alter which seems to be the grave of a person who was with him when he crashed, mapping the terrain, and going up steep snowy hills to a slightly different location each day to try to reach someone with his hand-cranked distress beacon. One day he thinks he's about to be rescued only to have the helicopter crash and now he has a gravely injured person he needs to take care of and decide how he's going to do that. And there begins the trek through Arctic that probably no one would survive. Unless your Mads Mikkelsen! Read my comment for more of my thoughts. Ran out of room!!"
