Wild at Heart

"I was only going to watch gay movies this month but I really wanted to watch this and it's one of like two major Lynch projects I have yet to watch so I just did it. I'll justify it by the heavy use of Wizard of Oz motifs. This is more straight forward than most Lynch stuff in that I could expect most people to follow this from beginning to end without issue. There is still heavy use of unreality, it's just used more on the periphery to enhance the emotional impact of various things. Also, just as a piece of acting. Laura Dern and Willem Defoe are two of my favorite actors and Nic Cage is a mix but usually fun to watch so it's a blast throughout. Really great off the wall crime story with just enough of that Lynch touch. I really dug it."
