"Honestly, I didn't hate this movie. It's a kids movie so don't have big expectations but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. This feels like a movie where the kids who are watching it now, will still like it when they're a lot older. Kinda like my generation with Shark-boy and Lava-Girl. It's about on the same level as Uncharted for me. "
"I had no desire to watch this film. I've never been a fan of dora.my brother and I used to turn it to dora when we knew it was ending just so when she asked "what did you like today?" We would say "nothing" and giggle when she said "I liked that too."
I heard this movie was a parody. They actually think Dora is nuts when she's yelling "can you say delicioso" to no one.
I'm not sure how this is a kid's film, but I guess kidsvwoukdnt understand the parodied humour.
Spoilers ahead:
The plot of the film is that Dora's parents are looking for parapata; a lost incase civilization. When Dora jumps a cliff and falls; miraculously unharmed, her parents send her to live with her cousin in some city. She is supposedly a smart girl, but does so many dumb things. She ends up being kidnapped along with her cousin and two classmates. Then some guy "recues" them. My thoughts were that they would do psychological warfare in a "kid's" film. That's exactly what they did. They wanted Dora to think she escaped so she could lead them directly to her parents. The bad guy even told her he was a bad guy and she didn't listen. They also got high off of some flower field and turned into their cartoon selves and the bad guy randomly took all his clothes off and ran naked through the woods. We only see the backside of him, but still what. The jungle sets were pretty cool. Everything was pretty obvious. What was with Boots looking so terrifying like how they did sonic originally before they fixed him? And, why did Swiper not look like a fox at all? And, writing of Swiper, why could he talk the whole film, but Boots could only talk the once? Why, was Boots voice so low? Also, Deigo is so mean. He should of helped his cousin in school, not cared about his precious popularity. It is just school. You are not going to see most, if any.of those kids once you graduate and if you do, the good ones won't care how "dorky" you are.
I will not watch this again, but it was a decent watch."
"This movie really tries to stick to its source material, but it fully acknowledges its source material is an incohesive garbled mangled heap that makes no sense. So it deeply improves upon these flaws and it builds up to a really solid movie that I did not expect to feel anything for. We had moments like Dora in quicksand, Dora with deadly animals, Dora teaching us to dig a hole for our poop. Things that really hit how Dora would come across in real life perfectly. A solid movie to watch"
"Even as an adult I liked this movie and have rewatched it. I did enjoy this one, and would probably watch it again if it came on. "
