"Saw this directly after finishing the book. While I understand there are some compromises that had to be made, I think an extra 30 minutes would’ve helped make this movie PERFECT. That being said, due to run time, I did find that this adaptation could be seen as “emotionally shallow” compared to the book. Aside from that, I still enjoyed the movie and felt the casting was great along with their performances. "

"Beyond thankful, to give the characters from the book, a face, an actual film i cant watch for the book and love. The acting was great, absolutely phenomenal. Everyone did great, Max, Reese, Eugenio and of course VERONICA and Eva. Not perfect at all but a wonderful and beautiful movie, im beyond thankful to watch. If you haven’t read the book, you will definitely miss a lot of key details, so definitely read the book; which is one of the most beautifully written book ever, a must read for sure especially for all my queer people!! Loved the, The first time I watched this movie, I knew right away—it wasn’t a perfect adaptation. So many key details, moments, and nuances were missing, and yet, I still loved it. I was grateful for it, even with all its imperfections. But the second time? Something changed.
This time, I watched it all in one sitting, and I watched it with my siblings. Maybe that’s what made the difference. We were fully present, no distractions, no one on their phones, just watching together. I kept pausing to explain missing details, filling in the gaps with what the movie left out. And to my surprise, they actually enjoyed it. I had expected indifference, maybe even boredom, but instead, they saw how important this story was to me. They really watched it with me. My brother rated it a 77/100, my sister a 75—solid scores that made me smile.
And somehow, despite its flaws, despite knowing all the things it got wrong, I found myself loving it even more. Maybe because sharing it made it feel more real, more alive. Maybe because I had already accepted what it wasn’t, so I could fully appreciate what it was. The heart of the story, the emotions that made me fall in love with it in the first place, were still there. And that’s what mattered.
I know I’ll rewatch it again—probably alone next time. But this second watch? It became a memory, a good one. And I think that’s why it meant so much more.
Rating: Imperfect, but unforgettable."
