"I loved it. Once again, viewers witness the enthralling dynamic between Livia and Tony by way of the perfect pairing of Vera Farmiga and Michael Gandolfini. Not to mention, the nuanced performances of a quality cast that duly paid tribute to their predecessors. Enjoyed this return to an era where an HBO show set the bar for quality television. It was a touching bonus that Michael Gandolfini was selected for this role as he brings back so much of what we love about his father and the character he created. The vulnerability of Tony’s (James’) gentle face and eyes were perfectly captured by Michael who also brings dimension and heart to the role. So much so, that it truly felt like we were peering into the formative years of Tony Soprano. Michael proves that he is a talent in his own right leaving no doubt of the honor he brings to his father."
"As a very big fan of The Sopranos, I felt like this movie wasn't up to par, but it does add to the lore that makes this movie watchable. The acting first and foremost was fantastic throughout the entire film, and Michael Gandolfini is basically a splitting image of his late father. Also, it was nice seeing all the easter eggs from the original series as well. My biggest gripe in this movie comes from the story, I thought that it was a bit rushed just for the sake of fitting in a standard movie length and feel like this show could've been a great miniseries. This movie overall is nice fan service for the folks who love The Sopranos, but not amazing as the show. I also would love to see some of the characters in the movie have their story expanded in a miniseries. "
"Straight garbage. Forced line after forced line. No storyline what so ever. Questionable casting (specifically sil). Many aspects didn’t line up with the show. Forced minority storyline that had no real purpose. Really makes you appreciate how good the show was. Specifically how real and genuine it was. This however, was the exact opposite. Such a disappointment. 15"
"Really enjoyed the movie the back story, seeing some of the characters in their early years from the show, and how things played out for the generations before Tony and seeing his interactions with them as a youth. I thought the actors depicted the tv series characters very well, from Tony, Sal, Etc. It wasn't quite the ending I was expecting just the same. Left me wanting to see more of Tony's rise to where we see him at the start of the TV series. Fingers crossed for a 2nd movie"
