"This is a really well done low budget, sci-fi mystery. The film is a slow burn, taking its time establishing the setting (a small New Mexico town in the late 50s) and its characters (led by two teenagers who work for the radio station and the switchboard). The pair start hearing strange noises coming over the radio and they begin to investigate. The story really begins to unfurl from there. I suspect this might have been originally written as narrative podcast, because the film centers around two major interviews and it could almost work without the visuals. That said, the film has a visual language that is very evocative of the era and it is able to stretch its tiny budget into feeling like a credible period piece. It’s quite the debut for director Andrew Patterson and a reminder that a good story can outshine millions of dollars in special effects. 4 out of 5 stars"
