"For those who have problems with watching anything to do with negative things done to animals, here is a trigger warning. There are dead deer and they show them hanging by their feet and being gutted and skinned and another roadkill deer that is gutted. Both my daughter and I looked away because we are both ultra sensitive to it, as vegetarians. They also show a child being eaten and it was very upsetting because they were very sweet and adorable and it was sickening thinking about that happening to them.
The storyline was good but I'm used to horror movies being dark overall. This one had a lot of scenes in the sun and frankly it took away from the darkness, which I didn't like. There is body horror which was fun. They didn't go very heavily into the lore and I would've liked more substance there. There was a twist towards the end that made you go "Ahhh" because it explained a couple things but if you think about it, it makes you wonder a lot at the absence of a character in most of the movie. The couple of things it answered only left you feeling like there should have been a LOT more "Ahhhh" moments. You will understand when you watch it. Basically though, it made the twist feel less twisty and more something added to give us a unique entertaining experience but ended up failing, in my opinion. Lastly, the very end fell flat for me. Felt set up to imply a sequel and ended up feeling like they were just trying too hard.
Regardless of all that, I was still entertained and it's a fairly solid entry into the horror genre."
