"I feel like this was our modern-day spy kids. It's not trying to imitate that movie series, but it has that feeling to it. It's nowhere near as iconic, but it's a fun time.
Your kids will enjoy it, you'll enjoy the comedy, & everyone will enjoy the overall action. It's just a neat story with amazing director skills. A few parts don't make sense, but that's chocked up to the made for kids part.
Storywise, it's every kids dream. Basically, they get to use the thing that makes them weird. Plus, they get to go on an amazing adventure where they find out their parents aren't boring & ordinary. However, it threw a fun twist on it. The story itself feels like a kid wrote it but has the cliche dodges & twists that make it worth watching. Even if it's rather cringey when it comes to the dad. (This is a warning that's vague enough not to be a spoiler. Near the end, you're going to be really disgusted by him (you'll also really want him to change his clothes), but still. I will say the grip line at the end was well worth the wait, though.)
It's also got the classic family cliche things where the characters learn to love their family by the end. So it has that more heartwarming element even if it's nowhere near as subtle with it. There are a lot of moments that they're going to throw in your face instead of letting you figure it out for yourself.
On top of that they're clearly trying to build suspense, but it's really just annoying. One I will reveal is when the guy is on the walkie calling for security. You know what's gonna happen, but they force it there anyways. It's not a surprise at all, yet suspense. . .
Each character is enjoyable & not fake. Even the crush turns out to be a pleasant surprise. Overall, I thought they wrapped things up nicely. Heck, they even had the ending credits reveal what happens after which I really salute. I always enjoy knowing what happens afterward, even if it is through a few lines at the end.
Overall, very clever. Not the best, but clever."
