"The cinematography in this movie can be absolutely breath taking and the monster has one hell of a design..but the story was so much of a mess that me and the two other people that where watching couldn't keep good track of it at all, I love the concept of this movie but I think it got bogged down with all the little details it wanted to stuff in it all at once. Also the characters where't very well written and made some very odd and stupid decisions that could have been easily avoided but made the movie progress...that's when you know something is sloppy. I'm obsessed with the creature though!"
"this was soo unexpected. I am very amped for this 1. The costumes, cinematography, even got the 50s dialogue down, lol. My only gripe was the boy Richie wearing those skinny jeans, that could have got him dusted back then, lol. Elizabeth Reaser plays the long suffering wife here & she looks like her costar in Ouija origins of evil Lulu Wilson(great lil actress to). I love that all the kids look like ur typical teens of the time, no wierd woke ish needed. The music is the right aesthetic, check. The pompadours & them cursing a blue streak, check. Everyone’s acting is top notch. The ending was different (no spoilers) 8/10 ✨"
"An interesting premise, but devolves into absurdity."

"If you're a slasher fan who's never read the 2006 novella by Norman Partridge I highly recommend watching the movie first. It's enjoyable as a alternate storyline. However it pales in comparison to Norman's masterfully spun tale. The 2023 adaptation lacks so many key plot points and details that would have given both more depth and emotion to the characters and a more clear explanation of the towns history. It's not by any means terrible. Just disappointing."
