"I plan on watching this by myself because I am the only movie nerd in the household but my children joined me and even enjoyed this film as well. This film is art simply put it is absolutely fascinating that they made this over 100 years ago I still can't fathom or possibly explain how. This is considered to be your first science fiction film so it definitely has the standard idea man has idea man goes on voyage man stumbles otherworldly life and unfortunately in this movie and like other films man in this case accidentally brings otherworldly life back with them and think you know that would be a great sideshow definitely a representation of the times. Anyhow it's very short under 20 minutes and breathtaking definitely should watch"
"A Trip to the Moon is a 1902 French science-fiction adventure film directed by Georges Méliès. It is widely regarded as the first sci-fi film ever made and one of the most influential films in cinema history.
The film follows a group of astronomers who travel to the Moon in a cannon-propelled capsule, explore its surface, encounter the alien Selenites, and return to Earth with a captive.
The film is notable for its innovative use of special effects, such as stop-motion, dissolves, pyrotechnics, and superimposition. The film also features a famous scene where the capsule lands in the eye of the Moon, which has become an iconic image in film history. The film is a masterpiece of imagination and creativity.
The film was rediscovered in the 1930s and restored in 2011 with its original hand-colored version. The film is now considered a landmark of cinematic history and a testament to Méliès' genius and legacy. I would highly recommend watching this film if you are interested in sci-fi, fantasy, or cinema history.

"Short but interesting to see what the movie-going experience was like way back when."

"This is considered the first ever science fiction film. This movie was unlike anything seen before, the films were hand painted so it was in color, it was thought lost to time when a copy of the film was found in old barn. A must see for film lovers, sci-fi nerds and anyone who’s ever dreamed of going to the moon. "
