"This is a great documentary on the creation and reality of making an indie game in the early days of Xbox Live. It's focuses on the minds behind Super Meat Boy, Fez, and Braid. They are all wildly different people with wildly different views on life and business. Edmund McMillen is a great guy and I'm glad to see him get some time in the spotlight, especially before the release of The Binding of Isaac. "
"Aspects of this movie haven't aged super well, especially public perception of some of the devs. And to be clear, I think Jonathan Blow sucks. Imo he doesn't get the best edit in the documentary anyway but he at least doesn't say some of the stuff he's known for saying after this was filmed. I still think this is worth watching as am encapsulation of a moment in time for indie video game development as well as a good depiction of how fraught indie development can be and the emotional toll creating can take in dealing with money, fan perception of the product and you as a person etc despite what anyone might feel about the actual people in this."
